Silent Stars
They are long gone, but they are not forgotten. They are not really gone but maybe they are forgotten? Being a movie star was different in the silent era. There were no paparazzis so there were no gossip magazines, at the most, a gossip column in the local newspaper. There were no television, which meant no reality shows, gossip news or talk shows. All together, movie stars could be very private when they wanted to be. If you wanted to see them, you had to go to the movies. These pictures are some of my favourites, I will update them a couple of times until I get it “right”. I will start with actresses from the “oldest” part of the silent era. Mary Pickford comes first, she was the first movie star and by her marriage to Douglas Fairbanks, one half of the first Hollywood it-couple (think Brad and Angelina). Last but not least in my gallery, is Jean Harlow. She started filming in the end of the silent era but became famous for her work in sound pictures. Partly because of her froglike voice who was perfect for comedies.
I have to point out that I´m not an expert, just someone that love old movies and old pictures. Like always, I focus on actresses not actors but there might show up some male stars as well. Take time to click on the pictures, I recommend this, they are simply amazing!
The site http://www.doctormacro.com have some of the most amazing pictures. You can read about these women and every other actress that ever starred in a Hollywood movie, at http://www.imdb.com.
Icons in the 1960´s
Above, Brigitte Bardot is my ultimate 1960´s icon. Below, Sandra Dee was a teenage idol.
Below, Barbra Streisand in a gold sequined dress. So pretty!
Above, Sue Lyon, star of Kubrick´s “Lolita”.
Above, Claudia Cardinale is an Italian actress and a 1960´s sex symbol. Below, Sharon Tate who starred in my favourite 1960´s movie, “Dance of the Vampires” (1968).
Below, Tippi Hedren, one of Hitchcock´s favourite blondes.
Ursula Andress starred in the first official James Bond-movie. Below, Anita Ekberg from Fellini´s “La Dolce Vita” (1960).
Candice Bergen was a popular model in the 60´s. For most people she is known from the sitcom “Murphy Brown”. Below, Honor Blackman, a 1960´s Bond girl.

Kirsten Dunst
Kirsten Dunst is a good actress, she takes risks, seem to have a mind of her own and an eye for fashion. She got style and she doesn´t care what other people think about her fashion choices. I like her a lot! Best movie; hmm have to think about that one, she was great in Interview with a vampire and Mary Antoinette was beautiful. Worst; I didn´t love Bring it on, put otherwise I really like most of them. I haven´t seen The Virgin Diaries, but I hope I can watch it soon.
Kirsten with her boyfriend, actor Garrett Hedlund (above).
Kirsten love blue.

Kirsten Dunst is 32 years old. She dated Jake Gyllenhaal for several years in her 20s. Since a couple of years she is in a relationship with Garrett Hedlund. Below, from left: A break from filming Marie Antoinette, in a silver dress and girlie hair-do & with Brad Pitt at a press conference for Interview with a vampire in 1994.
I love Brooke Shields eyebrows
This post is about eyebrows and don´t ask me why. When I think about it, I think I will have to blame Brooke Shields. Her eyebrows are so cool.
Below: Brooke Shields is the winner of my kind of stupid (not really) but still funny (sort of), eyebrow-competition!
Below, from left: First Runner Up: Lily Collins, she must have Hollywood´s fullest eyebrows. No 3; Camilla Belle. Number 4: Jennifer Connelly, no 5: Emilia Clarke, Ashley Olsen & Deborah Ann Woll (so cool with red eyebrows!).
Below: Erika Eleniak from Baywatch also (like my eyebrow-idol Brooke Shields) had more of a unibrow in the 1980´s. Just like myself actually (looking at old photos is even more embarrassing then you would think, sense I never looked like Erika Elaniak or Brooke).
Below: Kathy Ireland was a supermodel in the 80s and 90s (1989).
Below: Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor had the best eyebrows ever (it´s more of an expression, Brooke still wins).
Below: Did it really look good, even in the 1980´s, big blonde hair and dark enormous eyebrows? I don´t remember. Madonna look like a famous artist who can do what ever she wants and people will copy her anyway. Christina Applegate look like a high school girl in 1989 or so. She´s adorable if you ask me.
Below: Sharon Tate also had like the best brows ever!
Below: If it hadn´t been for all the make up, Agyness Deyn and Ginnifer Goodwin could have been our eyebrow-winners.
Below, left: Faith Domergue´s brows looks like their growing well. Below, right: Cara Delevigne.
Below: Alice Faye (left) and Jean Harlow (right) both had pencil sharp brows. Probably in the early 1930´s.
Below: …and so did Priscilla Presley, here in the late 1970´s. Pamela Anderson also like them thin. Very 1992.
Below: Chloe Grace Moretz have full eyebrows, they are probably darker than this. She have either bleached them or used make up to make them lighter (or photoshopped them!). Pic 2. Lady Gaga matches her white hair with bleached brows. Pic 3. Green works too when you are a pop-star.
Below: Silent movie stars Pola Negri and Vilma Banky. Sometimes I see people, usually a lot younger than me, with eyebrows like this. (It feels like a mistake but it´s probably not.)
Below: The famous unibrow – Mexican artist Frida Kahlo in 1938 and Salma Hayek portraying her in the movie Frida (1998).
Lauren Bacall´s eyebrows had a perfect shape, I like Raquel Welch´s shape and colour as well.
