10 Movie Costumes

Tuesday again! The days go by so fast. We got summer in Sweden, it rains every other day, but still, it´s warm and mostly sunny and the evenings are so light.

10 new movie costumes, all favourites, though if I have to pick one, it has to be the first picture. Drew Barrymore look amazing in her Cinderella dress with fairy-wings.

Sharon Stone chocked me and many others in Basic Instinct (1992).

Clara Bow in a see through-dress in My lady of whims (1926).

Rosemary Clooney & Vera-Ellen in White Christmas (1954).

Milla Jovovich as action-heroin Alice in Resident Evil – Afterlife (2010).

As half-elven Arwen, Liv Tyler truly looked like she belonged to another world. Lord of the Rings – triology (2001-2003). I love this dress, blue velvet is very royal, perfect for a elv-princess.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Film Festival in Cannes

 

       

The film festival in Cannes will soon be over. Wish I could have been there! I saw some pretty dresses this year, though I had to see them sitting by my computer.

I love colour! Especially when it comes to silk gowns at red carpets. Jessica Chastain´s blue dress is my no 1 favourite in Cannes 2014.

   

Grace of Monaco was the opening film and it received good reviews. Apparently Grace Kelly´s family is not to happy about the movie, not uncommon when making movies about real people (above).

The movie Saint Laurent about the designer Yves Saint Laurent will probably be better received since Saint Laurent is participating himself in the film making (below). I´m looking forward to see both movies.

 

To the left: Kristen Stewart. Right: The Swedish movie Force Majeure won one of the awards in Cannes. Funny thing: I was an extra in the movie! I was a guest in a restaurant scene, I just hope I´m actually in the movie (above).

 

Two questions that don´t need answers:

• Are Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Hollywood´s new it-couple? They are trying to pull of old Hollywood glamour, it doesn´t look too bad.
• Why do I like Julianne Moore´s style so much when she dress kind of weird?

Unfortunately a mayor idiot got through security and managed to get on the red carpet. As a prank (idiot!) he managed to get his head under America Ferrera´s dress. Apparently, the same man tried to kiss Will Smith last year, and got a good slap in the face for it. There is so many people around the red carpets, kind of creepy knowing that there may be a dangerous person in the crowd.

 

Djimon Hansou, Cate Blanchett and America Ferrera were promoting their new movie How to train your dragon 2 and this incident occurred right before the premiere. Enough said! At The Opera

This years Costume Institute Gala was held yesterday in New York. There were lot of two-piece dresses and some happy bright colours. At last years Met Gala some of the celebrities really went over the top, and at this event they really can wear pretty much whatever they want, but it has to be glamorous of course and there is always a theme. Sarah Jessica Parker and Kirsten Dunst is known to have some fun with their wardrobes at the Met Gala, but not so much this year. Lupita Nyong´o won the Fun Award (I just made that up!) and Kim Kardashian the Boring Award (just made that up too!).

A couple of pictures and my opinions: I like Katie Holmes dress, she didn´t go all conventional as she often do. I like the colour as well. Reese Witherspoon looked good in her Old Hollywood-style but she is getting more and more boring if you ask me and not just fashion-wise. Dianna Agron played a little with colours, she wore black and purple and still looked so sweet. (Her hair was a bit boring.) Liu Wen was incredible dramatic in her greenish ball gown. Lea Michele´s gold piece is one of my favourites. Simply beautiful. Lupita Nyong´o was colourful , but not as much as usually, this is not a favourite of mine. Emma Stone was stylish in what I guess is her favourite colour, pink, in two different shades. Kirsten Dunst have a sense of humour when it comes to fashion, I like that. Last, model Suki Waterhouse in a pastel gown.
